Vampire: The Masquerade: The Apocalyptic Bloods is a VTM play by post that is set between 1995 and 2000 in San Francisco, California, and the surrounding areas of the World of Darkness.A lethal plague has swept across North America, targeting the kindred with deadly force. After three decades of relentless searching, it has been traced to California. The revelations emerging from this discovery are beyond what the children of Cain could have ever imagined. And it was not just unleashed its wrath upon kindred, but the Garou as well. For the Kindred, a sudden and alarming phenomenon has emerged: everyone has become unable to sire new vampires. Even those with once-powerful bloodlines, who could easily turn others, now find that they inadvertently kill anyone they attempt to embrace. This has led to mass hysteria in many areas, threatening to unravel the Masquerade. In desperate attempts to find a solution, some Kindred have resorted to cannibalism, hoping that someone still possesses the ability to create new vampires. Unfortunately, the virus affects every generation. Truly, the Gehenna has begun, or so the rumors have spread.Against all odds however, a clan once believed to be eradicated has risen again. Like a great Saint in a time of great need, their Viate holds the promise of a cure for this virus. Or so the rumor goes. While in North America, and spreading world wide, the Garou have not been able to produce actual Garou for over three generations. While they do have kinsfolk who carry the bloodline, these individuals do not possess the beast within. Regardless of their breeding attempts.Additionally, the veil of the Umbra has nearly disappeared. Spirits are now scarce and very cautious about whom they are willing to work with. It seems that sacred grounds have been destroyed to a degree that is beyond their comprehension.
Has Gaia finally died? Has the apocalypse truly taken hold as the old spirit predicted? No, a new figure has emerged in San Francisco, and he’s very young—perhaps in his late teens at most. He is a Garou and has even utilized the umbra. However, the rumors suggest that he is also working with the Wyrm....While the hunters of the Northern continent have imposed restrictions preventing anyone with "supernatural abilities" from entering or leaving "their territory." This ban applies to all, regardless of whether they are on the hunters’ side or not, whether by choice or circumstance. Surely, they must be behind this, right? Could they be the source of the rumors surrounding the so-called “Original Inquisition?”Now, an unlikely alliance has slowly begun to form. Kindred and Garou are working together to ensure the survival of their races. Does it mean they’re happy? Not at all. But this collaboration is happening.
